Decks & Porches

Outdoor living, built around your life.

A great deck turns your backyard into the best room in the house. Here’s what goes into one — and how we build yours to last.

The basics

What is a deck — and a porch?

A deck is a flat, raised outdoor platform — usually built from wood or composite boards over a sturdy frame — attached to your home or standing on its own. It’s where you grill, gather, and relax outside.

A porch is similar but typically covered by a roof and often attached at the front or back entrance. Both add usable square footage, boost curb appeal, and are one of the highest-return upgrades you can make to a Cape Cod home.

Why it’s worth it

More room to live. More value at resale.

  • Real living space for dining, entertaining and unwinding outdoors.
  • Strong return on investment — decks consistently rank among the top-value home additions.
  • Built for the Cape — proper framing, flashing and fasteners that handle salt air and storms.
  • Designed for you — multi-level, built-in benches, railings and lighting all on the table.
Your options

Wood or composite — we’ll help you choose.

Pressure-treated wood

The classic, budget-friendly choice. Warm, natural look that takes stain well. Needs periodic sealing to stay its best.

Cedar & hardwoods

Beautiful grain and natural weather resistance. A premium, real-wood feel with more character.

Composite & PVC

Low-maintenance, no staining, fade- and stain-resistant. Ideal for busy homeowners who want “build it and enjoy it.”

Good to know

Deck questions, answered.

How long does a deck take to build?

Most residential decks take a few days to a couple of weeks depending on size, materials and any permits. We’ll give you a realistic timeline with your estimate.

Composite or wood — which is better?

Wood costs less up front and looks naturally beautiful but needs upkeep. Composite costs more initially but is nearly maintenance-free for decades. We’ll match the choice to your budget and lifestyle.

Can you repair my existing deck instead of replacing it?

Absolutely. We do board replacement, railing repair, re-staining and structural fixes. If a repair makes more sense than a rebuild, we’ll tell you honestly.
